As a trained clinical health psychologist, I treat the person as a whole, and understand the interplay of mind and body. I am experienced in effectively working with many mental health concerns that adults experience.
My therapeutic approach is always based on the individual’s needs and goals, and is informed by a combination of:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)- Challenging and changing unhelpful and painful thoughts and behaviors, improving emotional regulation, and the development of personal coping strategies that target solving current problems
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)- Clients learn to stop avoiding inner emotions and, instead, accept these deeper feelings and commit to making helpful changes in behavior.
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) - Focused on attachment and centers on resolving interpersonal problems with various strategies
Mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR) - incorporates mindfulness meditation, body awareness, and exploration of patterns of behavior, emotions, and thoughts.
I have particular expertise and passion in working with the following:
Women’s health
Perinatal and postpartum adjustment
Chronic pain management
Life transitions
Relationship issues
Weight management
Anxiety
Depression
